Dehradun: Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has informed that in pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes, roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.
Under the anti-encroachment drive on Friday, 61 illegal encroachments were demolished and 125 illegal encroachments were identified. Till date, a total of 3256 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 6181 illegal encroachments have been identified and 108 buildings have been sealed.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash Informed that the encroachments within the limits of Dehradun Municipal Corporation would be removed at all costs. He said that none of the encroachers would be spared at any cost even if they are influential.
Om Prakash appealed that if anyone has inadvertently encroached upon government land, they should themselves remove the encroachment to avoid any unpleasant proceedings. Om Prakash again warned the encroachers that FIRs would be registered against them. He said that work to remove encroachments from public roads would continue under every circumstances as per the directives of the honorable courts.
Ashish Srivastava, Chief of Anti-Encroachment Task Force and vice-chairmen, MDDA said that 60 to 65 per cent of encroachments from main roads have been removed and work to install pillars on the land freed up from encroachments have been speed up. He said that the topical survey of the roads is being done by PWD and Smart city.
