Seven people were killed and 22 injured after a lorry fell into a 50-foot deep gorge in Chittor district, Andhra Pradesh.
The incident took place at Pedhavanka under Kuppam mandal in the district.
Women and children were among those killed in the incident. All those travelling on the lorry were from the neighbouring Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu called the Collector from Delhi and inquired about the accident. He has ordered immediate rescue and relief measures.
Collector SP Rajasekhar Babu reached the scene of the incident to help coordinate between various departments involved in the rescue and relief.
On May 28, an eight-year-old died and six others were injured in a freak accident at a fair in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district, when a cabin fell off a giant wheel.
The trolley cabin came undone and seven people were thrown on the ground — killing the eight-year-old girl instantly.
