Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat distributed “Computer Tablets” to the toppers of the Uttarakhand Board High School-Inter Examinations during a programme organized at his residence, here today. The programme was organized by the Women Welfare & Child Development Department. During the programme, tablets were distributed to girl students from all the blocks of the state and district, who have topped in the Uttarakhand Board Examination for High School-Intermediate examinations. As many as 307 Tablets were distributed.
Information Technology helpful in moving ahead: CM
While congratulating the student awardees, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Tablet is a medium to get information from all across the world. He said that from Tablet, one can get both good as well as bad information. He added that the students must utilize such latest technology positively for the advancement of their careers. He also said that High School- Intermediate is a turning point in the life of the students. He said instead of rather than imposing their wishes, parents should pay attention towards the interests of their wards. CM told the girl students that for success, apart from their right, they should also keep in mind their duties as well.
Chief Minister said that today, the education sector has become very smart. He said that there may be limited knowledge in one book and for reading large number of books, lot of time is required. But with just one click, the Tablet can provide you the information about subject of your choice and topic. He further said that Tablet is also helpful in creating awareness. The Tablet can provide updates every moment, as to whatever is happening in country as well as the world. CM appealed the girl students that they should not become “Job Seekers” and instead become “Job Giver”. Means, they should not study just for job purpose but should also utilize their knowledge and experience in creating employment opportunities for others.
‘Devbhoomi women becoming empowered’
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also mentioned about the government efforts being made for women welfare and empowerment.
Ø Taking in account the health care of the new born babies, Vaishnavi Health Kits are being provided.
Ø For providing sanitary napkins to adolescent at nominal rates, Sparsh Sanitary Napkin scheme has been started.
Ø In order to facilitate women with self-employment, in a first, Prasad in temples has been made a source of income.
Ø Women will be immensely benefitted with Pirul Niti. In Pirul collection, women groups will get widespread employment.
Ø For women to excel in technology and skill and compete with men, they are being given training in small enterprise. For the manufacturing of the LED appliances in the Police Stations of Dehradun, a training centre has been started, where 50 women are undergoing training. Very soon, a similar training centre would be opened in Kotabagh in Nainital.
Ø 670 Nyayapanchayats are being developed as growth centres. From these, 15 growth centres will start this year, where women would be imparted training in cloth making, stitching etc.
Ø For the maintenance of the roads, assistance of women self-help groups is being taken.
Ø In order to make sure that women can also start their own industry, a provision of providing loan upto Rs 1 lakh at an interest of 1% is being started.
Ø Issue of the salary of Asha workers was pending from past 8 years. The matter was resolved and funds to the tune of Rs 33 crores were released for clearing the arrears of the Asha workers.
Ø Accidental Insurance of Rs 2 lakh has been started for NNM and Asha workers.
Ø For individual woman, Sakhi E-Rickshaw scheme has been started.
Tablet helpful in connecting with modern technology: Minister
Addressing the programme, State Minister for Women and Child Development (Independent Charge) Ms Rehka Arya said that in order to connect the Uttarakhand Board topper girl students with modern information technology, “Tablet Distribution” programme has been started. She said that Tablet would become a new guide in their career. She further said that modern time is a digital era and enough opportunities would be provided to the girls of the state in moving ahead.
Necessary to promote girl education: Principal Secretary
Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Radha Raturi has said that programme has been organized to promote education. She further said that this programme is also a part of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign. She added that capable girls gives a message in the society that girls are not burden but boon. Ratruri stressed that everyone should jointly make efforts for improving the child sex ration in the state. MLA Deshraj Karanwal and Director, Women and Child Development Department, Ranveer Singh Chauhab were also present in the programme.
