Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the first City Gas Distribution (CGD) of Uttarakhand for Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar at ONGC auditorium here. This will be Uttarakhand’s first and country’s eighth City Gas Distribution (CGD) system. The 500 kilometer long pipeline will be completed by 2020 and provide employment to 2000 people. A total of ten CNG stations, one in Jaspur, two in Kashipur, one in Bazpur, three in Rudrapur, one in Kiccha, and one in Khatima have been identified for this pipeline. The Rs.250 crore project will cover Kashipur to Rudrapur/Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat also participated in the 9th CGD Bidding Round Show organized by Petroleum and Natural Regulatory Authority Board.
‘Pirul’ will be an income generating resource: CM Rawat
Congratulating and sending his wishes to the people of Rudrapur, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that through the joint efforts of Petroleum and Natural Regulatory Authority and Adani group, the supply of domestic gas through pipeline in Rudrapur has started. He said that on the completion of six months of the state government, they had promised to provide CNG and PNG in Doon valley. He said that they have a taken a step in that direction and hoped that by 2019, the service of CNG and PNG will be available in Dehradun also. He said that Dehradun and Doon valley are sensitive from ecology point of view and Uttarakhand provides oxygen to the entire country and this was an important initiative.
He said that Himalayas, forest, rivers are a boon for the nation. He said that the state government has decided to produce electricity from ‘Pirul’. He said that there is one lakh metric tonne of ‘Pirul’ in the state forests and this resource would be used in generating income by producing turpentine and bio-fuel. He said that 60,000 people will get employment and 150 MW of power will be generated through this project. He said that land is being allocated for bio-fuel plant in Dehradun. He further said that the state government has been trying to preserve the environment besides effectively checking migration.

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat appealed to the investors that this has to be kept in mind while working on any project that how many people will get employment through it. He said that besides environment, migration is a serious problem of the state. The Chief Minister said that officials have been directed that during conceiving any project this has to be kept in mind that more and more opportunities of employment are created through such projects. He said that employment means self-employment and not government jobs. He said that it was only through self-employment that an effective check can be put on migration.
J.K. Shroff, Chief of Petroleum and Natural Regulatory Board appreciated the role of the state government in supporting CGD. He said that work in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand are going on and investors are being invited for such a project in Dehradun. The Gas Authority of India (GAIL) will complete the pipeline work in Haridwar by 2019 and the state government in providing all kind of support by giving all the sanctions immediately. He said that City Gas Distribution (CGD) will soon be started in industrial areas of Selaqui and Rishikesh.
S.P. Garg, a member of Petroleum and Natural Regulatory Board, Advisor of the board Arvind Kumar also spoke on the occasion. The officers of Petroleum and Natural Regulatory Board, representatives of Adani group and large number of investors were present on the occasion.
