Lucknow: “Beat Plastic Pollution” is the theme for the World Environment – 2018 and it urges governments, industry, communities, and individuals to come together and explore sustainable alternatives to the excessive use of plastic. This widespread use of plastics is polluting our oceans, damaging marine life and threatening human health. The Government of India is committed to organizing and promoting the World Environment Day celebrations through a series of engaging activities and events generating strong public interest and participation. In sync with the national commitment, CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow will celebrate the World Environment Day – 2018 on June 05, 2018.
The institute will organize the 22nd Dr C. R. Krishnamurti Memorial Oration in honour of the second Director of the institute. The oration will be delivered by Shri Ricky Kej, Grammy Award Winning Music Composer and Adjunct Professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru, at 10.30 AM in the S. H. Zaidi Auditorium of the institute. A painting competition for school children, on the World Environment Day theme was conducted in the preceding week and prize winners of the same will be felicitated on the occasion.
