CM Rawat flags off Marathon-2018 for rejuvenation of dying rivers

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off the Marathon-2018 organised by Making A Difference ( MAD), a voluntary body with an aim to rejuvenate dying rivers from parade ground.

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that for conservation and preservation of water and its’ resources everyone has to make efforts. He said that three and half lakh saplings will be planted along Rispana and Kosi rivers on ‘Harela’ festival with the support of general public. He further said that youth have to come forward for rejuvenation of rivers and MAD organization has channelize the energy of children in the right direction for positive works.

Chief Minister said that with the rejuvenation of Rispana and Kosi rivers, we could provide a role model for the entire country. He said that this work can be accomplished only with public support. The Chief Minister said that the work for rejuvenation of rivers the state government has been getting full support from social bodies, different organisations and general public.

He further said that we have to give full support to make the ‘Swattach Ganga Mission’ of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi a success. A sum of Rs. 25,000 crore has been earmarked for ‘Namame Gange’ project. The Chief Minister said that to provide water to Dehradun with full gravity, the foundation stone of Song dam will be laid next year. He said that the state government has been focusing on eco-system, environment conservation, water conservation, rejuvenation of rivers and generating employment through local resources. Abhijay Negi of MAD was present on the occasion.
