CS reviews progress of “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana”

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh has instructed the district magistrates to identify degraded forest land for “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana” roads. He said that the pending land transfer cases should be cleared expeditiously.

The degraded forest land can be used for “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana” roads. The civil and other kind of lands should not be identified. He said that in forest where there are less trees, forestation should be done. Chief Secretary was reviewing the progress of the “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana” at a meeting at secretariat on Friday.

Chief Secretary through video conferencing instructed the district magistrates to expedite the work of linking the villages with roads. It was informed in the meeting that a total 453 kilometers of road would be constructed under for “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana”.  There is a need for 700 hectares of degraded forest land for these roads.

A total 31 roads in Garhwal and 23 roads in Kumoan region have been sanctioned. The proposals of construction of 54 roads are being uploaded online. There are 378 proposals received for forest clearances out of which 324 proposals are uploaded. For 147 proposals, sanctions in principle have been given while works on the rest of the proposals are being undertaken.

Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Secretary Rural Development, Additional Secretary Raghav Langar, Nodal Officer Forest Manoj Chandran and other officers were present in the meeting.
