Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat participated in a programme titled ‘Manch Uttrakhand” organized by ‘India News’ channel at a hotel at Haridwar road and felicitated several eminent personalities with ‘Uttarakhand Gaurav’ award for their remarkable contribution in different fields. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Uttarakhand is a land of opportunities. “The state has tremendous opportunities in the fields of power, tourism and organic farming and natural beauty and spiritualism are part of our heritage. Educated, positive, creative human resource, patriotism and dedication to duty are our identity. We have natural love for the environment since birth. The countrymen have rekindled faith towards Uttarakhand. In only 46 days, the record number of pilgrims and tourists has visited Uttarakhand,” he said.
Chief Minister said that ‘Investors Summit’ will be held in Dehradun in October and investors are being invited for the summit. To encourage investment in the state, road shows in big cities of the country and abroad are being organized. Mini conclaves were held at Haridwar and Nainital. The state government is focusing on service sector and working on “13 Districts,13 destinations.” One destination has been selected from each district which would be developed as a tourist destination.
Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Uttarakhand is second in the country which has given industry status to tourism. “We are making efforts to have 5000 home stays by the year 2020 in the state. All the 670 ‘Nyaya panchayats’ are being developed as growth centres. Focus is being laid on medicinal and aromatic products. There could be good income earned from processing, packaging and grading of products at the local level. The “Devbhoomi Prasad’ prepared from local products by women self-help group at Kedarnath temple has earned an income of Rs1.5 crore this year which has helped 2000 women economically,” he added.
Chief Minister said that positive migration is not bad but the migration under compulsions is a matter of concern, for which Migration Commission has been constituted. He said that we have got economic survey of the state done and its report has come. He said that our region is the state of educated people. Chief Minister further said that people here can understand the situation of the state to decide how they can contribute to the development of the state. We have taken an initiative to make the state corruption free. We will eradicate corruption without Lokayukta. We have launched a campaign to curb corruption and so far 50 people have gone to jail. Not only this, many people involved in the corruption to the tune of hundreds of crores in the NH-74 are ready to return the money. Chief Minister said that corruption is the mother of all ills and talked about the public participation to curb corruption.
