Uncategorized

Days after BJP MP Smriti Irani’s close aide was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh, the state police on Monday, 27 May, said that they have arrested three men in connection with the case adding the preliminary evidence indicates a matter of “local political rivalry.”

The former Baraulia village head, Surendra Singh, known to be close to Irani, was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district at around 11:30 pm on Saturday, 25 May.

Speaking about the arrests, state Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh said that the department has arrested three murder suspects, while two others are still absconding.

“On the basis of all evidence, it is very clear that the five murder suspects and the victim had local-level political rivalry,” OP Singh said.
