New Delhi: The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu attended the valedictory function of Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme-DHRUV at New Delhi today and felicitated the meritorious students selected for the programme. The Vice President of India gave the DHRUV batches to all the 60 students selected under DHRUV programme.

V. Subba Rao; Secretary, Department of School education and Literacy Shri Amit Khare; Mission Director, Atal innovation Mission, NitiAayog, Shri R. Ramanan and Joint Secretary MHRD Shri R. C. Meena andSenior Officers of Ministry and Dhruv Tara students were present on this occasion.
While addressing the gathering Shri Venkaiah Naidu said that ‘DHRUV’is a unique initiative of the Ministry of Human Resources Development. The Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme-DHRUV, will act as a turning point in the lives of extraordinarily talented students by acting as a platform for them to explore their talents and achieve excellence in their specific areas of interest.It is clear that the students who have completed the ‘DHRUV’ program have gained tremendous exposure and diverse experiences. Speaking on the occasion Union HRD Minister said that the potential in our students is endless and the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme aims at helping students to realize their potential to the fullest through the just concluded programme, in which multi-faceted support was provided over the course of fourteen days. The Dhruv programme reflects the true spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. These students will, it is hoped, act as a beacon for the 33 crore students in the country. The Minister told that the first batch of ‘DHRUV’ consists of 60 students, 30 of who are exceptionally talented in Science and 30 of who are outstanding performing artists. \
The Minister further said that the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme has focused on identifying and nurturing talent in two areas, namely science and the performing arts.Thirty of our students present today have distinguished themselves in the field of science at very early stage, proving that they possess a combination of determination, innovation, and capacity for hard work. These are the very qualities that will allow them to make the most of this programme and to continue to realize their potential in the days to come. The Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme-DHRUV will act as a turning point in the lives of extra ordinarily talented students.He further said that the other thirty of the students here today have demonstrated exemplary technique, skill, and expression in the Performing Arts.. The performing arts in particular are deeply rooted in Indian cultural history and are practiced with great finesse today. These students have displayed a superb record of physical and mental determination, as well as an immense respect and knowledge of varied aspects of Indian culture. They possess the skills and mind-sets required to make themselves, their families, and their country proud in their particular artistic pursuits.
During the program all 60 students trained under the DHRUV programme show cased their talent via several performances. These 60 outstandingly talented students have been selected in the first batch of DHRUV programme. The students will thus both shine through their achievements and light a path for others to follow. The 60 students come from across the country. The students have been broadly chosen from classes 9 to 12, from all schools including government and private.
The 14 days programme was organized for these students in which the science and performing arts students were separated into two groups. The science students were divided into 3 groups of 10 each and also the performing arts students into 3 groups of 10 each. Each group from science stream produced a project under the mentorship of experts from the field of science. Similarly, each group in performing arts was mentored by icons from the field of art and culture. From 14th to 23rd October, 2019 the students participated in various activities at IIT, Delhi and National Bal Bhawan.
During their 14 days training many renowned personalities from art and science like famous bollywood director Subhash Ghai, Member of Parliament and Sufi singer Hansraj Hans, Dhrupad singer Wasifuddin Dagar, famous singer Mohit Chauhan, famous percussionist Shivamani, CEO, Costa Coffee CEO Dominic Paul among others met and shared their experiences with DHRUV Children.
