Dehradun:The Government of India (GOI) has decided to celebrate nationwide ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ 75 weeks earlier from the 75th anniversary of the upcoming Independence Day on 15th August 2022. For Uttarakhand, Dehradun and Almora district have been selected to commence the event from 12th March onwards.
Secretary Tourism, Uttarakhand Mr. Dilip Jawalkar said, “Uttarakhand has always been the land of freedom fighters. I would like to congratulate the government of India for initiating this event which will pay tribute to our freedom fighters. I would request the people to visit the event from 12th to 17th March and indulge in the spirit of independence. He said Azadi Ka Amrit Smaronatsav’ will be an important event highlighting the importance of freedom fighters of our country. This event will be a testimonial in commemorating the 75th Independence Day.”
Adding more information regarding the program, District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) Jaspal Singh Chauhan said, “Freedom run and cycle rally will be organized at Pavilion ground, Dehradun on March 12th. Theme-based Photo exhibitions, Kavi Sammelan, Nukkad Nataks, Painting Competitions, Khaadi stalls, etc are also planned to be organized from 13th to 17th March in Dehradun.”
