New roads of 6208.45 km will connect ‘majras’ and villages

Lucknow: Working towards the up-gradation of infrastructure and pushing forward rural economy by constructing roads in villages, phase III of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is in a fast lane in Uttar Pradesh.

For the last 4.5 years, roads have been the priority of the Yogi government in order to augment infrastructure and improve the lives of rural population.

Aiming for the socio-economic development in the rural areas, new roads are being built connecting villages and ‘majras’. Around 6208.45 km of new roads are being constructed at a cost of Rs 4130.27 crore under PMGSY-III.

The present Government is committed to inclusive development and the welfare of the people. The construction of roads under PMGSY-III will boost growth, create jobs and raise the standard of living for hundreds of millions in rural areas. The road projects taken up by the government are also generating direct and indirect employment as the manpower is engaged in the construction works.

In four and a half years, the work under the first and second phases of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has been completed in Uttar Pradesh. The state has constructed over 57162.55 km of road under the same. The maintenance work of five years has been assigned to the road contractors.

Chief Executive Officer, Uttar Pradesh Rural Road Development Agency, Bhanu Chandra Goswami informed that in the third phase of the scheme, 6208.45 km of new roads are being constructed for Rs 4130.27 crore. In the third phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the Government of India has set a target to construct roads of 18937.05 km in Uttar Pradesh by the year 2024-25.

Since the Yogi government came into power, UP’s focus has shifted to roads. Earlier, it was not easy to reach the villages. The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has worked to bring a new revolution in the state.

With the construction of new roads, ambulances and other medical facilities are easily accessible from villages. Along with this, due to the introduction of public transport, the common people are easily reaching their destination.
