Delhi-Rewari-Alwar RRTS project discussed with stakeholders

New Delhi: The Delhi-Rewari-Alwar Regional Rapid Transport System project was today discussed with the stakeholders ahead of submission of Detailed Project Report for the approval of competent authorities.

            Making a presentation on the salient features of this important rail based RRTS project, Shri V.K.Singh, Managing Director of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) informed that the 180.50 km long project is estimated to cost Rs.37,539 cr. He further said that there will be 19 stations on the proposed alignment with the first 56 km involving 9 stations from ISBT Kashmeri Gate in Delhi to Cyber City in Haryana being underground and the remaining stretch of 124.50 km with 10 stations being elevated.

            Shri V.K.Singh further informed that NCRTC is targeting approval for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the Board in the next two months and approval of  Delhi, Hayrana and Rajasthan Governments in another three months thereafter so that project work on the ground could be started within one year.

            With design speed of 180 kmph, operating speed of 160 kmph and average speed of 105 kmph, journey between Delhi and Alwar could be completed in just 104 minutes, Shri Singh stated. Frequency of services would be every five to ten minutes depending the time of the day. With 6 car combination to begin with , each train could carry 1,154 passengers. There will be no land acquisition issues since the entire corridor is underground and elevated.

            Shri  Durga Shanker Mishra, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development said that RRTS is a comfortable, safe and fast mode of travel and Delhi-Alwar RRTS would trigger economic development in the region including employment generation. He suggested to NCRTC to consider adding some more station on the 180.50 long stretch. He complimented NCRTC for ensuring convergence of Delhi-Alwar, Delhi-Meerut and Delhi-Panipat RRTS corridors at Sarai Kalekhan in Delhi thereby facilitating a seamless travel across three States.

            The alignment of Delhi-Alwar RRTS covers the following stations:

ISBT Kashmere Gate-New Delhi Railway Station-Sarai Kalekhan-INA –Dhaula Kuan- Mahipalpur-Cyber  City-IFFCO Chowk-Kherki Daula (all underground)-Manesar-Panchgaon-Dhauruhera-BTK-MBIR-Rewari-Bawal-SNB-Khairtal-Alwar (all elevated)

            NCRTC, a joint venture of Governments of India, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan is executing  the prioritized 3 RRTS corridors viz,, Delhi-Alwar, Delhi-Meerut and Delhi-Panipat whle 8 such corridors have been identified  under the Integrated Transportation  Plan 2032 prepared by the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB).

            The other RRTS corridors are; Delhi-Baraut, Delhi-Hapur, Delhi-Khurja, Delhi-Palwal and Delhi-Rohtak.

            Senior officials, Municipal Commissioners and Town and Country Planning officials from the Governments of India, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, consultants and construction company representatives attended today’s Stakeholders’ Workshop on Delhi-Rewari-Alwar RRTS.
