Dehradun: Council of Architecture and NASA (NASA- National Association of Students of Architecture) organized a National Level Panel Discussion in Himgiri Zee University. The discussion emphasized on various Cultural, Biological and Sociological aspects of Smart Cities in India. The chief guest and distinguished speaker for the event was Architect Sanjay Kanvinde who emphasized on the cultural and transformational needs required for proposed smart cities in India. Architect Sanjay Kanvinde is well renowned figure in the field of Architecture and Urban Designing world over. He is son of the famous Architect Padma Shri A P Kanvinde who is also hailed as the first modernist architect of India. Other than that Architect Amit Hajela made key points on the issue of better traffic system in Indian Cities. He emphasized on how policy making in India should be better equipped to tackle the issues of increasing population and traffic.
Architect Anand Wadwekar famous for his work of urban planning and regeneration in Bhopal said that Architectural demands and planning should be within the context of the area where work is required or being done. Architect Ram Satish shared his experiences of working in Scandinavian Countries to Thailand to Middle Eastern Countries. He currently serves as Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, IIT Roorkee.
On welcoming the renowned Architects Vice Chancellor of Himgiri Zee University Prof. Rakesh Ranjan hoped that panel discussion would lead to some good solutions to our urban problems. On the occasion Dean, Department of Architecture, Himgiri Zee University, Prof. Satish Kulkarni marked the event as a corner stone in the history of the university. Prof. Satish Kulkarni has served as Head of the Department of Architecture, IIT Roorkee. On the occasion Zonal President, North Zone, NASA Shantam Dhingra congratulated Himgiri Zee University for orgnanising the event.
The Anchor for the programme was Associate Professor, G. Radhika. Organised under the auspices of NASA the event attracted students from various institutes and Universities of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab. All in all students from 40 various colleges participated in various competitions organized on the occasion.
The competition was held in Brick Art, Quiz Competition, Designer Approach, Photography, Clay Modeling and LANthraxx category. The event was made successful by Anil Bharti, Rohit Lobiyal, Sanjeeth Pillai, Ambika Prasad, Garima Agarwal, event coordinator Anukant Vats, Unit Secretary Himanshu Tyagi and all the students of Department of Architecture and Palnning, Himgiri Zee University.
