Honeypreet Insan, “adopted daughter” of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, resurfaced from hiding on Tuesday and spoke to TV channels where she vigorously contested all allegations against her for inciting riots in Panchkula.
Honeypreet alias Priyanka Taneja demanded evidence which supposedly proves her role in inciting riots in Panchkula and different parts of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi on August 25 when self-styled Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted in twin rape cases. Around 30 people died and more than 350 were injured in the violence that ensued.
” I want to ask, how can a girl go alone without appropriate permission in the middle of the force? Later they all said that I was wrong. I just need to say that all evidence is there for the world to see. They accuse me of being involved in riots, but do they have any evidence against me.
I don’t know why my name has been brought into this. I was in the chopper with papa (Gurmeet Ram Rahim) when he was being taken to the jail. We were not even aware of any unrest.
All channels were monitoring my movement, I was travelling with papa, even your channel had the videos, then how could I have inflamed riots in Panchkula? ,” she told India Today from an undisclosed location.
Honeypreet also denied rumours and speculation that suggested that she had fled to Nepal.
“I was very much in India, I did not go to Nepal,” she reportedly said.
“Truth will prevail and the world will see this. I’m pained and shocked, how can the world do this to us? We are great patriots and we love India,” said Honeypreet amid speculation that suggests she may surrender to the police today.
