Rahul Gandhi: Don’t blame pessimists, accept you have failed to deliver

Uncategorized

On the second day of his Amethi trip, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi continued his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that instead of blaming pessimists, he should “stand up and say we have not managed to deliver”.
The Congress leader’s attack on Modi comes a day after the Prime Minister lashed out at critics for spreading pessimism based on the slowdown in the economy in the last two quarters and ignoring that the BJP government brought down the inflation from 10 per cent in the UPA regime to 2.5 per cent.

The 47-year-old Amethi MP today said that job creation and farmer distress are the two main issues on which the Modi government should focus. “As an Opposition leader, I am advising him (Prime Minister Modi) that he needs to focus on the two main problems,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“We are unable to provide jobs to our youngsters,” he said, adding that China generates 50,000 jobs everyday. “India, under Modi’s Make in India, Startup India/Stand Up India, produces 450 jobs,” said the Congress leader.
Rahul said that other crisis is agricultural and “farmers are committing suicides”. In a direct attack on Modi, the Congress vice-president said, “Instead of excuses and saying pessimists are creating an atmosphere, PM Modi should stand up and say we have not managed to deliver”.

He further said, “PM Modi should say we have one more year, we will deliver now. This is what a true leader would do”. A day before, Rahul Gandhi had said that Prime Minister Modi should stop wasting the time of the countrymen and start giving jobs to youth as promised. He said of the 30,000 people seeking jobs everyday, only 400 get employment.

BJP President Amit Shah will be in Amethi on October 10 along with several other senior Union ministers. Taking a jibe at them, Rahul said that all the projects which are now being inaugurated by the BJP were started by the UPA regime and him. “Now senior BJP leaders are reinaugurating these projects to take the credit,” the Gandhi scion said.

The Amethi MP will be meeting people in his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Rae Bareily on Friday before heading back to Delhi.
