The Congress on Sunday posted a compilation of images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi hugging world leaders with “humorous” captions on Twitter.
Two Union ministers condemned the Congress for posting such a tweet on the micro-blogging site, terming the move “an insult” to Modi and the world leaders.
“With Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu visiting India, we look forward to more hugs from PM Modi! #Hugplomacy,” the Congress tweeted, posting the compilation of images of Modi hugging world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This came on a day when Netanyahu was on an official visit to India.
“The Congress seems to have lost its senses. What they have tweeted shows their immaturity and lack of political sensibility. We condemn this. I hope wisdom prevails on them some day,” said Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar.
“Since the Congress lacks concrete issues to discuss so they have tweeted a disgusting video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi receiving the Israeli Prime Minister. This not only insults our prime minister but also a guest,” he added.
Union minister Babul Supriyo said the tweet proved that Congress leaders have “stopped low and shows their low mentality”.
“They are indulging in crass humour to seek attention. The Congress has taken another step towards its annihilation,” he added.
