CM Manohar Parrikar discharged from hospital, arrives at Goa Assembly

Uncategorized

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar reached Goa Assembly after being discharged from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Thursday. He is expected to table the budget today. The Budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, which began on Monday, would last for only four days owing to the illness of Manohar Parrikar, who was hospitalised in Mumbai.

Deputy Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Michael Lobo confirmed this development.

Parrikar was admitted undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai since 15 February. He was being treated for pancreatitis. The hospital administration refuted rumours that the Goa chief minister had to undergo surgery and said that he is responding well to treatment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a daylong visit to Mumbai, visited Parrikar and inquired about his health.

Speaker Pramod Sawant, who chaired a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) said the Budget would be presented on February 22, the last day of the session. The session was supposed to continue until mid-March, but due to Parrikars illness, the committee decided to cut it short, Sawant told reporters. (With agency inputs)
