Sources close to Akhilesh Yadav say Congress deserves only two seats in the grand alliance – Amethi and Raebareli. Even if the alliance doesn’t take place, SP will not contest in both these seats.
The calculation of SP is not as simple as it looks. The party knows Congress can’t win on their own but if they join mahagathbandhan they will win maximum given seats.
SP spokesperson Sunil Sajan says it’s a fight between 85 percent and 15 percent. We are ready to take on BJP but it’s for Congress to decide whether they want to remove Narendra Modi or to become a regional player.
Samajwadi Party MLA Udayveer Singh told that the seats will be decided when top leaders meet. However, Congress must see where it stands when it comes to vote. Udayveer also said we will certainly leave two seats for Congress because we feel big names must reach the Parliament.
Clearly, Congress is not happy with the new emerging political situation.
Congress spokesperson Amarnath Agrawal, hit out at Akhilesh camp for stopping the momentum of alliance. He feels this kind of formula will only help BJP. When asked on seat sharing Agrawal said there should be respectable seat sharing among all the alliance partners.┬аAkhilesh is leaving for Delhi tomorrow, he may meet big political leaders to discuss his views on alliance. india today
