Mussoorie: Mussoorie International School hosted its 30th Annual Sports Meet today with variety of impressive sports, exercise and drill display by MIStars.
Chief Guest on the occasion was Ms. Neetika Chopra, a well-known Painter and an alumna of the school, who was also the Head Girl in 1990. Mussoorie International Schools’ Annual Sports Day is an eagerly anticipated and exceptional event of the institution as it celebrates the importance of sportsman spirit and sees enthusiastic participation by students across all disciplines.
The Sports Day started with a guard of honor for the Chief Guest and flag hoisting in presence of the School Principal, Mrs Shakuntala Vashisht, followed by Oath taking ceremony by Jayanti Murarka, Head Girl and all the house teams of Mussoorie International School. After the opening ceremony, students competed in a range of sports events that included Javelin throw, Discus throw, Short Put, High Jump, Long Jump and the athletic race.
The highlight of the Sports Day was the March Past and Mass Drill presented by the three Houses in harmony which beautifully showcased the ethos and culture of the school.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Ms. Neetika Chopra, said “Being a part of MIS Annual Sports Meet brings back such wonderful memories of the golden days I spent at MIS. It is especially heartening to see that MIStars retain their zest and desire to excel in all fields. Sports has always been a strong focus at my alma mater and the students’ performance today was extraordinary. MIS exemplifies and encourages girl power and the students today have shown what it takes to be a winner in every field”.
A series of sports competitions were judged and students were appreciated for their successful performances. The event concluded on a high note with announcement of the overall Championship Trophy and Best Athlete. All the students cheered as the trophy eventually went to Santoshi House who won the overall Championship.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Shakuntala Vashisht, Principal, Mussoorie International School said, “Every year, the students and staff work hard to make our Annual Sports Day a grand success. Sports are a significant part of a student’s academic life and we at MIS always accord it great importance. It gives me immense pleasure to see all the students participating and their parents attending this event in large numbers. The zeal and passion exhibited by our entire faculty, staff and students is the reason why MIS excels in all the events round the year.”
The event ended with the rendition of the National Anthem and the school management thanked everyone who contributed to the event a mega success.
