BJP believes in the core of democracy, says Modi

Uncategorized

Describing the BJP as “dyed in the colour of patriotism”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the party believes in the core of democracy and it enables them to take its allies along.

Inaugurating the new BJP central office on Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Marg, Modi recalled the contributions of the AB Vajpayee-led government and said his predecessor was successful in taking allies along, while navigating regional aspirations and sparking a new hope in the country.

“The root cause for this is that democracy is in our blood. That is why we are moving forward while taking everyone along to the best extent possible,” he said inaugurating the new BJP headquarters.

His comments come even as some of the BJP’s allies like the TDP, Shiv Sena and the Akali Dal have spoken about their differences with the saffron party.

While the Shiv Sena announced that it will contest the next Lok Sabha polls alone, the TDP is raising the decibel levels over financial assistance to Andhra Pradesh.

Modi said the BJP and its forerunner, the Jana Sangh, led all agitations held in national interest and it never wavered from its ideals and patriotism.

He said the Jana Sangh was founded because after Independence a need was felt to have more national parties.

“After Independence, the Bhartiya Jana Sangh and then the BJP led all agitations held in national interest in the country. And we are proud of it,” he said.

“The BJP is ‘dyed in the colour of patriotism’ and is always willing to struggle and sacrifice for the cause of the nation, ” he added.

He said different views of political parties make a bouquet of democracy is beautiful but a lot is still needed to be done about the way they are constituted and function.
