New Delhi: The Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Shri Justice Dinesh Gupta called on the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space Dr Jitendra Singh here today.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that CAT is an important Tribunal of Government of India and it has been established to adjudicate the disputes related to service matters of the Government servants. It not only reduces the burden of various Courts, but also provides speedy relief to the Government servants, he added. The Minister said, with Shri Justice Dinesh Gupta taking over as its Chairman, the Tribunal will benefit from his experience in the field of judiciary.
Shri Justice Dinesh Gupta, who took over as Chairman, CAT recently said that his priority is to address the backlog of cases pending with CAT.
The CAT was established in the year 1985, for adjudication of disputes and complaints with respect to recruitment and conditions of service of persons appointed to public services and posts in connection with the affairs of the Union or other authorities under the control of the Government.
