Chicken prices are set to recover from their recent slump aided by higher consumption during the winter season, Venky’s India Ltd. Managing Director Venkatesh Rao said.
Price of chicken has dropped to Rs 63 for 2-2.5 kilograms from Rs 71 in Mumbai in the last month, according to Poultry Bazaar. On the flipside, egg prices have almost doubled in the same period.
“The egg industry has been going through loss for the last few years. This is the first time in a while that the poor farmers are making some money,” Rao said.
