China is afraid it’s ambassador to Pakistan will be killed. Here’s why

Uncategorized

China has asked Pakistan to increase security for its new ambassador in Islamabad, after receiving intelligence information that terrorists were planning to attack him.
The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad has written to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, saying that a terrorist tasked with attacking Ambassador Yao Jing has entered Pakistan.
The Embassy asked that Islamabad take immediate action, and increase security for Yao. Sources say a letter written by the focal person for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), identifies the terrorist as Abdul Wali, who is from the banned East Turkestan Independence Movement (ETIM).
The ETIM largely operates in China’s troubled northwestern region of Xinjiang, home to many minority ethnic groups, including the Turkic Uyghur Muslims.
The letter contains details about the Wali’s passport, and demands that he be arrested immediately, and handed over to the Chinese Embassy. This, the letter says, won’t just help foil the terrorist’s nefarious designs, but will also facilitate the capture of other terrorists involved in the plot.
The multi-billion dollar CPEC project, dubbed a ‘game-changer’ for the region, will connect the Xinjiang region with Pakistan’s deep sea port in Gwadar, through a rail and road network.
