Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the Hindi Journalism Day by lighting the traditional lamp at a function organised on the occasion at Uttaranchal Press Club at parade ground, here today. He also honoured journalists for their commendable work in the field of journalism.
Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that there should be a Bhawan for journalists in Dehradun in which arrangements should be made for the stay of journalist coming from far off places. It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat had laid the foundation stone of multi-purpose hall of Uttarachanl Press Club and also announced a grant of Rs. One crore for its construction. The provision for the money has been done in this years’ budget. The executive agency for the multi-purpose hall of press club has been asked to submit proposal at the earliest.
Giving his best wishes to media representatives on Hindi Journalism day, Chief Minister said that being the fourth pillar of democracy, journalism is playing an important role in political, economic, social cultural and other fields. He further said that Hindi journalism from time to time had playeda stellar role in checking social ills and encourage people to participate in various people’s movements. He said that journalists through newspapers and news magazines have brought in awareness in the society. The Chief Minister said that during the present age of modern technology and social media, the challenges before Hindi journalism have increased but it’s relevance has also increased.
Khazan Dass, Local BJP MLA, BJP leader Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, Bhupinder Kandari, President of Uttaranchal Press Club and other journalists were present on the occasion.
