Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat today inaugurated LED village light training programme at Thano located at Bala Sundari temple’s premises. CM Rawat said that this training programme has been organized to promote Women Self-help Groups and to make women self-dependent. He said that it is necessary to provide self-employment to Women Self-help Groups at block level, as it will help PM Modi’s ‘Beti Bbachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save Girl child, Educate Girl child) campaign successful. He said that if women become self-dependent then they will themselves become powerful.
CM Rawat expected that Women Self-help Groups will work well after getting trained through LED Light training program. He said that besides preparing products, their marketing will also be taken care of. The 2nd LED Light training programme will be held soon in Kotabaagh. He informed that in future, more LED Light Training programmes will be organized to provide self-employment to Women Self-help Groups at Gram Panchayat level. This will help promote local products and will put an end to purchase of Chinese products. The sale of these products will also help SHGs to earn more. He said that there was need to use all resources effectively and need to turn ‘waste’ to ‘best’. On this occasion, CM Rawat also distributed kits to members of Women Self-help Groups for making LED lights and other equipments. A total of 50 women from 10 Women Self-help Groups were trained at Thano.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary (Power) Radhika Jha said that this was a good initiative to provide employment to women at local level. The LED Light Training programme will be taken to villages on massive scale so that it will increase employment opportunities for local people. She added that this training is easy and very helpful in providing self-employment to women.
In the First Phase of LED Light Training,Women Self-help Groups will be taught to make LED Chandelliers, LED Hangings, LED Bulbs, LED Tube-lights and Solar Emergency Lights. This training programme will be of five days.
