CM Rawat releases Eco-Tourism Report of Rural Development and Migration Commission, Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat released the Eco-Tourism Report of Rural Development and Migration Commission, Uttarakhand at CM residence. In the report, nature-based tourism (eco-tourism) activities have been analyzed in the state. In the report, it has also been discussed to create employment opportunities and stop migration in the hill districts through eco-tourism. Discussions about eco-tourism policy and eco-tourism master plan for Uttarakhand were also held between Chief Minister and Vice President of Rural Development and Migration Commission Dr. S.S.Negi. Migration Commission suggested that only one agency – Eco-Tourism Development Corporation, Uttarakhand should be given the task of eco-tourism development. Regarding eco-tourism in the state, adequate updated information should be available on a website or web app.

Also, the GPS system should be strengthened. Provision of water conservation, rain water harvesting, non-conventional energy sources, strengthened telecommunication system, waste management, arrangements for toilets, participation of local communities in eco-tourism and efficient traffic management at eco-tourism sites should be made. The emphasis was on linking various eco-tourism spots and Home Stay Schemes to the nearest trekking sites, temples and other tourist destinations. It was also discussed to increase skill development programmes related to eco-tourism and connect women with these skill development programmes.

Chief Minister said that nature is paramount in eco-tourism. Eco-tourism is dependent on nature. Therefore, protection of nature and maintaining ecological balance should be our topmost priority. While protecting the nature, state government is trying to increase employment opportunities and prevent migration.

Sita Ji temple in Sitansu

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the Sita Ji temple, Sita Kuti, Vida Kuti in Sitansu in Pauri Garhwal will be developed. Soon, Only 4 to 5 KM Pad Yatra or Jat Yatra will be organized at this place. Chief Minister and senior officials of the government will also be a part of this Pad Yatra or Jat Yatra. Chief Minister said that Laxman Ji temple in Deval near Sitansu will also be developed.

Special instructions to Secretary Tourism

In the context of Eco-Tourism Report, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has instructed Secretary Tourism that proper measures should be taken to increase the number of rafting tourists in the state. Special focus should be on improvement of safety standards. Simultaneously, for the information and facility of the tourist, he instructed to provide updated details of the Home Stay registered on the website.
