Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat participated in the Raksha Bandhan programme along with the sisters from the state at the Janta Milan Hall at CM residence. On this occasion, women in large number tied Rakhi to the Chief Minister. Extending Raksha Bandhan wishes to the people of the state, Chief Minister said that Raksha Bandhan is a sacred festival. It is a festival of purity and resolve. Chief Minister said that according to the time and conditions, Rakhi has been tied by the women.
Apart from the festival of brothers and sisters, even in the ancient times, when the Kings used to go for war, their wives used to tie Rakhi for their protection. Even today, when our soldiers go to the border to protect the country, our daughters tie Rakhi for their protection. Chief Minister said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival, which is emotionally associated. This festival also strengthens the relationships. On this holy festival of Raksha Bandhan, Chief Minister has prayed to God for happiness, prosperity, healthy and long life of the people of the state. Thereafter, Chief Minister attended a Raksha Bandhan programme organised at a Wedding Point in Balawala. Here also, women in large number tied Rakhi to the Chief Minister. Chief Minister said that there is a ritual in our festivals and they also strengthen our relationships.
