New Delhi: Former Captain of Indian Football Team Gurdev Singh Gill was felicitated here today for his outstanding contribution to Indian Football. Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs & Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore presented him a shawl, memento and a cheque of Rs. Five Lakh on the occasion.
The felicitation ceremony was organised as Shri Gurdev Singh Gill was away in Canada when Prime Minister shri Narendra Modi felicitated the captains of Indian football teams that played in the Asian Games. Felicitation of Indian Captains by the Prime Minister was organised during the FIFA U – 17 World Cup on October 6 in New Delhi earlier this year.
Speaking after the felicitation ceremony Shri Gurdev Singh said he is happy with the promotion of Football in the country as FIFA U 17 world Cup has attracted a lot of attention throughout the country especially among youth and school students. He expressed his gratitude to the government for felicitating former football players.
