Dehradun: For the first time in Uttarakhand, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Indian Region, Zonal-01 meeting, was held at a local hotel at ISBT. The meeting was chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
On this occasion, CPA Chairpersons and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan congratulated the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Speaker for doing some new works in Uttarakhand, under the Speakers Research Initiative. Expressing her views on the women empowerment, she said that women have to come forward for the development of the nation. She further said that by inviting some experts, in assemblies of all the states, taking any one issue and discussions should be held on agriculture, industry and other subjects. She said that zone wise meetings are being organized to see to it that how states get together and there should be development.
Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Speaker Premchand Aggarwal said that it is for the first time that the CPA, Indian Region, Zone-01 meeting has been held in Uttarakhand. He said that with this meeting, we will get to see a new change in the work culture of the Vidhan Sabha and also, a meaningful initiative will be seen on issues related to development. He sought permission from Lok Sabha Speaker for conducting a national level seminar in Uttarakhand on cleanliness and development of rivers.
In the meeting, during discussion on the issue of the cleanliness and development of rivers, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that for the water conservation, there is need to formulate a comprehensive policy. He said that rain water harvesting is very important. He said that state government is making efforts for the water conservation. He informed that last year, trenchers were made and 40 crore litres water was conserved, whereas thus year the target for water conservation has been fixed 70 crore litres. Chief Minister said that for the rejuvenation of the Rispana and Kosi river, the state government has kept a target of planting 3.5 lakh trees. He added that on the occasion of Harela Festival, 2.5 lakh trees would be planted along with Rispana riverside. He said that this work would be done with the public cooperation and for this Rispana river has been divided into different zones.
In the meeting, Bihar Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker H.N.Dixit, Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dinesh Uroon, Delhi Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ramniwas Goyal and Orissa Vidhan Sabha Speaker P.K.Amat and Lok Sabha General Secretary Snehlata Shrivastava were present.
