New Delhi: The fifth edition of International Army Scout Masters Competition is being held at Jaisalmer Military Station under the aegis of Southern Command of Indian Army. The competition is a part of International Army Games and consists of five stages of competitions which will be conducted over a period of nine days from 06 August 2019 to 14 August 2019 at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
It is the first time that India has got an opportunity to host and participate in this prestigious event. Elite teams from eight participating countries including India will undergo a gruelling experience in the desert conditions which will test their endurance, professional acumen, grit and capability, to the hilt. The other seven countries are Armenia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe.
In order to set the ball rolling and to infuse competitive spirit and fervor, a Curtain Raiser for the event was held on 05 July 2019 at Manekshaw Center, New Delhi. The event was attended by General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General SK Saini, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command along with various other senior officers of Indian Army, officials of Ministry of Defence, representatives of International Organising Committee and Defence Attaches of participating countries.
During the Curtain Raiser, the participating teams were briefed on the rules, regulations and modalities for successful conduct of the event by the Organising Committee. Unveiling of the Rolling Trophy and release of the Army Scout Masters Magazine was also carried out during the function.
