Dehradun: Under the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) ‘Swachata Pakhwada’ programme, district Dehradun holds a first-day cleanliness drive on Friday. Students, as well as volunteers from NGO’s, worked together to clean the Jhadipani trek, George Everest premises and Guchupani area.
Tourism Minister Uttarakhand Shri Satpal Maharaj said, “The first day of Swachata Pakhwada started with great enthusiasm among volunteers especially students. We look forward to see similar efforts from other districts as well.”
Secretary Tourism Shri Dilip Jawalkar said, “Such initiatives will bring awareness among people to keep their environment clean. We will put our continuous efforts to arrange similar kinds of cleanliness drives to cover more and more areas around Uttarakhand.”
Additional Director and Nodal Officer of the drive Smt. Poonam Chand said that continuous work is being done by UTDB to provide a clean environment to the tourists. This drive also aims to sensitize people about solid waste disposal and other such activities.
District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO), Shri Jaspal Singh Chauhan said, “We are thankful to the volunteers contribution today. More such drives will be organised by us in different areas of Dehradun in the coming future.”
CEO Waste Warrior Vishal Kumar Sr, Manager Waste Warriors Shri Naveen Kumar Sadana and others were present during the event.
