New Delhi: The Department of Consumer Affairs is celebrating the World Consumer Rights Day this year with the theme “Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer” in New Delhi on 15th March 2018. The programme will be inaugurated by Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and will be graced by Shri CR Chaudhary, Minister of State for Consumer affairsFood & Public Distribution and Commerce. The Theme speaker on the occasion will be ShriGulshanRai who is Chief security Information adviser in PMO. The event will be attended by Ministers and Secretaries in charge of Consumer Affairs in the States, Secretaries in Central Ministries and Regulators,Members of Parliament, members of CCPC,Officers in the Central Government, and representatives from Industry, Media and Voluntary Consumer Organisations.High on the agenda of the event will be the discussion on the theme “Making Digital Market places Fairer” which has become an important issue debated in international fora currently.
World Consumer Rights Day is an annual international event that signifies celebration and solidarity in the international consumer movement,demanding that, consumer rights are to be respected and protected. The event also gives a chance to protest against the market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights. Each year, World Consumer Rights Day adopts a theme to highlight. This year the theme promoted is “Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer”.
