Department of Posts launched special drive for Aadhaar, 2,500 enrollment and updation done in a day

A special drive was launched by the Postal Department on Tuesday, July 6 in the Post Offices of Varanasi Region to get a new Aadhaar card and updation. On the instructions of the Postmaster General of Varanasi Region Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Aadhaar enrollment and updation of about 2500 people was done in a single day.

This campaign was carried out in 129 Post Offices of Varanasi, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Jaunpur and Ballia District following the COVID 19 protocol, which was highly appreciated by the people. Aadhaar work was done till late evening in most of the Post Offices, so that people do not have to return disappointed.

Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that anyone can get the facility of Aadhaar services in the Post Office. So far, Aadhaar enrollment and modification of more than 7 lakh people has been done in Varanasi Region. During the second wave of Corona pandemic, Aadhaar enrollment and modification of more than 43,000 people have been done since April 2021.

Assistant Director Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma said that new Aadhaar is made completely free of cost in post offices. ₹ 50/- is to be paid for demographic updations (name, date of birth, gender, address, mobile and email) and ₹ 100/- for biometric updation (fingerprint, iris and photo). This campaign was conducted in 46 Post Offices of Varanasi, 19 Post Offices of Ghazipur, 27 Post Offices in Jaunpur, 22 Post Offices in Ballia, 5 Post Offices in Bhadohi and 10 Post Offices in Chandauli District.
