New Delhi: The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, in association with the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) is organizing a Workshop in Surat, Gujarat next week on the role of Application of GIS technology in Governance.
The day-long Workshop will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh on October 10, 2017.
The inaugural session will be followed by a presentation on the awarded initiative of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) regarding the use of GIS technology at SMC, for the purpose of replication by other urban bodies. It will also deliberate upon Local Area Planning for cities to be implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India as a pilot scheme and coordinated by Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad.
Chief Secretaries and Secretaries, Urban Development of various States/UTs will participate in the Workshop. Senior Officers from DARPG and line Ministries/Departments of the Government of India and various State/Union Territory Governments will also be present. The workshop is expected to be attended by more than 100 delegates from Government of India, State Governments and local bodies.
