New Delhi: The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh will inaugurate a two-day seminar on Bamboo Development here tomorrow. Ministers in-charge for Environment and Forests from the eight North-Eastern States will be participating in the conference being organized by Ministry of DoNER.
The two day conference includes panel discussions and presentations on issues like leveraging North Eastern Region bio-diversity further, Skill Development in Bamboo sector, Legal and Regulatory Issues and Enhancing Supply of Raw Materials.
Bamboo is an important natural resource which is found in abundance in the North Eastern Region. Bamboo can be developed through various technological interventions to improve the livelihoods of the people in the region. Identifying Bamboo as an important resource, M/o DoNER has organized this Conference to have a brainstorming session and also to share success stories which could be replicated across the region for the benefit of the NE people. This conference will roll out a roadmap to develop bamboo which will be a crucial intervention for the overall development of the North Eastern Region.
