New Delhi: Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Culture and Tourism chaired the “Second Meeting of the Re-constituted Central Advisory Board on Culture (CABC)” in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh today. Addressing on the occasion, he stated that the role of veteran artists is very immense in spreading the great culture of this nation among the young generations. The original forms of various arts and culture should be preserved and attempts may be made for its sustainability, he said.
The members of the CABC were requested to highlight priority areas in the fields of art, music, dance and literature. Shri Suresh Talwalkar, Shri Vasudeo Kamath, Prof. S.R. Leela, Shri S L Bhyrappa, Shri Pranjal Saikia, Dr. Vaman Kendre, Prof. M. Balasubramaniam, Prof. Rahman Ali, Smt. Uma Sharma, Pt. Chhannu Lal Mishra, renowned lyricist Shri Sameer Anjaan including Secretary(Culture), Shri N. K. Sinha and Vice Chancellor, BHU, Shri G C Tripathi were among the members present in the meeting. Some of the members were of the view that organisations of theatre Olympics in 2018 will be big boon for Indian theatre fraternity. They also suggested that National level Cultural Festivals like Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav may also be organised in north eastern states.
The members also suggested that active groups working in the field of Music may be supported and importance of Sanskrit Language may be promoted among the young generations. The Minister assured the members of all possible help from the Ministry of Culture for preserving and promoting the culture and heritage of the country.
