Dehradun: Uttarakhand School Education minister Mr Arvind Pandey presided over a review meeting of education department at secretariat, which was convened to ensure improvement in quality of education with education officials on recommendation of Assembly assurance committee chairperson/members.
Minister directed officials for setting up of bio toilets in all the schools and adequate arrangement of potable water, water supply, toilets on priority basis and rain water harvesting system set up.
Adequate furniture set up at all schools was also given along with officials asked to prepare a proposal for waiving of Goods and Service Tax of 28 pc on furniture for procurement to schools.
Minister said that for providence of electricity connections at all schools, installing solar panels with help of UREDA should also be done. He also directed that to improve on quality of education, student’s monthly examination results should also be linked with the ACR of the teachers.
During the meeting officials told that regular monthly examination of students has resulted in regular improvement of education and month by month student’s performance is getting improved. Student’s educational performance is being analysed at block level and results at state level too. Education minister also recommended for raising monitoring wage of far flung deployed block education officers.
He also directed officials to prepare proposal for merger of schools having fewer students with nearby schools with standard student ratio of 10 in hill areas and 15 in plain areas.
Education minister said that monthly testing is also being monitored by chief minister dash board and said that training of teachers should be made as per current requirements.
He also directed for district wise and blocks wise analysis of board examinations and focusing on those schools which lag behind in giving good academic results.
Legislator Karan Mehra suggested that through 10 pc of legislator fund effective reform can be brought in schools and pointed that recruitment drive for vacant posts be done on war foot level.
Salt legislator Surendra Singh Jeena suggested that to improve quality education for vacant posts on contractual basis teacher’s appointment can be done , for which expression of interest can be published and direct depositing of salary of personnel in their accounts should also be waived. Legislator Aadesh Chauhan and Diwan Singh Bisht also gave important suggestions regarding education quality improvement.
Secretary education Dr Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh informed that every month a teacher is selected who has given commendable result and as reward Government of India provides Rs 1 lakh cash award to the respective school of the selected teacher.
Meritorious students answer booklets are being put on departments website and kitchen gardens are being made in government schools, in which students are also given a major role.
Also progressive farmer’s interaction is being done with the students and single combined trial system has been developed for entrance in sports colleges or selection for any sports completion. Education minister also reviewed Akshaypatra scheme during the meeting.
At the occasion Director General School education Captain Alok Shekhar Tiwari, Director intermediate Director, Secondary education Dr Rakesh Kunwar, Additional Director Ram Krishan Uniyal and other senior officials were present.
