Nottingham: After being put to bat by England in the third Test, it was a day to remember for India as they finished with 307-6 on board at the end of stumps at Trent Bridge.
A fifty partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul set the tone before Chris Woakes gave England the upper hand with a flurry of three wickets before tea, including Cheteshwar Pujara.
Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane then put up a crucial 150-run stand to turn the game on its head but Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid got the breakthroughs to deny both the set batsmen a century.
Hardik Pandya along with debutant Rishabh Pant later on soaked the pressure before James Anderson bounced back in the final ball of the day to pick up his first wicket.
