Dehradun: two books—“Ethics for Civil Services” and “Cracking Civil Services-The Open Secret”—were released.
The book “Ethics for Civil Services” has been written by IPS Officer Ashok Kumar, who is Additional Director General of Police (ADG) in Uttarakhand Police, currently holding the post of director intelligence and vigilance, and Gaurav Talwar who is journalist with a leading English daily. The book has been published by, Wizard Publications.
While the second book “Cracking Civil Services-The Open Secret” has been written by Ashok Kumar who has also authored best selling book “Human in Khaki” on people and victim oriented policing in past. The Hindi version of the book titled “सिविल सेवा परीक्षा आपकी मुट्ठी में”, translated by Jagdish Pandey, was also released on the occasion.
Notably, “Ethics in Civil Services” is a comprehensive book for Paper IV of Civil services mains examination. The book comprising of 267 pages covers the whole syllabus mentioned by UPSC. The USP of the book is that it is precise and has a separate chapter on case studies dealing with 125 marks portion in mains exam.
While “Cracking Civil Services-The Open Secret” is a book dealing with problems and difficulties faced by the aspirants during the preparations and how to overcome those problems to ensure success in the civil service examination. The book aptly deal with issues like stress management, time management and role of motivation in a examination like civil services.
Former CBI Director Joginder Singh, ETV channel head Jagdish Chandra and NDTV anchor Nidhi Kulpati were also present on the occasion. The secretary of IIT Delhi Alumni Association Indu Bhaskar and President of IIT Delhi Alumni Association Deepak Dogra were also amongst the many dignitaries who attended this book launch event.
The book launch event was followed by a panel discussion on the topic “Fight against corruption – The road ahead”. The panel comprised of above the mentioned dignitaries who actively participated in the discussion and shared their valuable views on the burning issue of corruption in the country.
