Dehradun: Film Producer/Director Madhur Bhandarkar met the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat at CM residence. During his meeting, Bhandarkar gave many suggestions pertaining to the development of the films and promoting the culture of Uttarakhand through films. Chief Minister said that for the shooting of the films, from nature and geographical point of view, the environment of Uttarakhand has always been favourable. He said that there is no dearth of talent in Uttarakhand. With shooting of films getting a boost, the new talent in the state would also get opportunity in the field of films.
Chief Minister said that in order to encourage films in Uttarakhand, the government has given tax exemption for the shooting of the films. For all film shooting related procedures, the system of Single Window has been implemented. Getting attracted with this, many film makers from big banners are coming to state for the shooting of the films. He said that permission for Film Institute in Uttarakhand would be sought from FTII. For this, he directed the Secretary/Director General, Information and Uttarakhand Film Development Council CEO to take necessary action in this regard.
Chief Minister said that seeing the natural beauty of Uttarakhand, more and more film makers in the country are making films in Uttarakhand. From this, Uttarakhand is being recognized in the country and abroad. Chief Minister said that there is huge potential for film making and film shooting in Uttarakhand. What is required is to understand this fact in-depth. Apart from the pilgrimage places, it is also meditation centre of saints, about which information can be available by going to the remote areas of the region. He said that in future, from film making, people here would get employment in direct and indirect form, which will improve their economic condition.
