A group of three or four gunmen attacked the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul on Saturday, 20 January, said an interior ministry spokesman.
The attackers are reported to be exchanging fire with security forces.
Ministry spokesman Najib Danish said that the attackers appeared to have included suicide bombers.
