Haryanvi singer-dancer Harshita Dahiya was shot dead in the Chamrara village of Panipat district in Haryana on Tuesday, October 17, around 4.30 p.m. The police has revealed that Harshita Dahiya was killed by four men on the instructions of her brother-in-law Dinesh Karala, who is a notorious gangster. Dinesh Karala, who has many criminal cases against him, including the murder of Harshita’s mother in 2014, confessed to the murder of his sister-in-law during police interrogation. He was brought from Jhajjar jail on a production warrant, Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma told PTI. “Dinesh is a notorious gangster. Twelve criminal cases have been registered against him at various police stations in Sonepat, Jind, Jhajjar and Delhi,” Sharma said.
Harshita Dahiya was killed while returning home in a car after a performance in a village. The 22-year-old singer was shot at five-six times from close range. Harshita was travelling with three other people but they were not targetted by the killers.
Harshita belonged to Sonepat district in Haryana and lived in Delhi. Recently she had reportedly posted a video on her Facebook page, revealing that she was getting death threats. “There are some people from the industry, our own performers from Haryana, threatening me on the phone to compromise and delete the video or else I will have to face the consequences,” Dahiya said in the video.
Dinesh Karala wanted to kill Harshita because she was a prime witness in the murder case of her mother, revealed her sister Lata. “Dinesh, my husband, was behind the killing (of Harshita). He got her killed because she was a witness in the murder case of her mother,” Lata reportedly claimed.
