Tamil Nadu is expected to receive heavy rainfall from Tuesday as the well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is likely to become a depression.
“It (low-pressure area) is very likely to become a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours and a deep depression subsequently”, Deputy Director General of Meteorology Dr S Balachandran said on Monday.
He said heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south coastal Andhra Pradesh from December 7.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that more than 3,000 fishermen, who were stranded midsea, have been rescued. He said a search is still on to rescue remaining fishermen, who ventured into the sea last week.
