Moderate to heavy rains lashed Hyderabad city on the weekend. Heavy rains were recorded at Uppal, Falaknuma, Ramnagar, Madhapur, Chandanagar, Darulshifa, Dabeerpura and Jama Masjid.
Met experts had earlier attributed it to a low pressure area building over the north-west Bay of Bengal and an upper air circulation over Telangana.
The rains occurring since the beginning of October are attributed to a cyclonic circulation that persists over the Bay of Bengal. This will bring more rains to the state up to October 15.
Waterlogging was reported from Chandrayangutta, Engine Bowli, Bahadurpura, Edi Bazaar and other areas. The downpour accompanied by wind disrupted traffic at all major junctions.
At least 300 huts in Hyderabad inundated due to heavy rainfall in the last week. According to locals they said that they were forced to sleep on roads.
