Roorkee: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) successfully hosted the flag-off ceremony for Yuva Sangam Phase 5, an initiative under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) program to foster cross-cultural understanding among youth from diverse regions of the country.
The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a soulful rendition of Kulgeet and a series of cultural performances showcasing the vibrancy and diversity of Indian culture. Nodal Officer Prof. M.V. Sunil Krishna provided an insightful overview of the Yuva Sangam initiative, highlighting its role in promoting unity and national integration.
During his address, Prof. Barjeev Tyagi, Dean of Students’ Welfare (DoSW), emphasized the importance of youth engagement in nation-building activities. He remarked, “Yuva Sangam offers a unique platform for students to connect with their peers, embrace diversity, and strengthen bonds across the nation. It truly represents the spirit of unity in diversity.”
The event featured inspiring poetry by a Yuva Sangam participant, captivating the audience. Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, highlighted the institute’s commitment to fostering national unity through cultural exchange and youth empowerment, urging participants to serve as cultural ambassadors by showcasing Uttarakhand’s rich traditions and heritage in Jharkhand.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, said, “This initiative aligns with our vision to foster national unity through cultural exchange and youth empowerment. At IIT Roorkee, we are proud to play a role in shaping leaders who are not only technologically skilled but also socially responsible.” Prof Pant has emphasised and urged the participants of Yuva Sangam to showcase the culture and traditions of Uttarakhand in Jharkhand.
The event concluded with cultural performances and a vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem. Yuva Sangam continues to be a beacon for fostering cultural integration and nurturing a sense of unity among the youth of India.
