Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO, PepsiCo, has been ranked second on magazine’s list of 50 most powerful women in business. Meanwhile, the lady powerhouses of Indian banking, Chanda Kochhar of ICICI Bank and Shikha Sharma of Axis Bank, have now entered the league of top women in business outside the United States of America, finding themselves at fifth and 21st positions respectively.
Interestingly, Nooyi is the only woman of Indian origin to figure in this list of top executives in the US, which comprises 26 CEOs of major companies and many more corner-office contenders across industries. It has 11 new names this year and participation from 11 different countries.
The list is topped by Mary Barra, Chairman and CEO, General Motors, while Marillyn Hewson, President, Chairman and CEO, Lockheed Martin, clinched the third spot.
According to a report by , the magazine said that Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank, had led India’s largest private lender for eight years, and under her stewardship, ICICI Bank has thrived.
An report said that magazine stated that Shikha Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank, can now focus on beefing up the bank’s digital services, which includes expanding its digital payments app’s reach now that she has been reconfirmed as CEO.
