Dehradun: School of Agriculture and Forestry, Himgiri Zee University organised a national seminar on the theme Innovation and Challenges in Present Day Agriculture, Forestry and Allied Sciences in association with Scientific Planet Society Dehradun. Scholars from all over the country presented their abstracts and papers on the theme. Coming from various Universities in and around Uttarakhand scholars and students also participated in model exhibition and poster presentation.
Dr. M C Nautiyal, Former Dean Rani Chauri Campus, Pantnagar was the Chief Guest for the day. He enlightened the students on the various challenges in front of the agriculturists. He also emphasised on the three D’s for the development of agriculture. These three D’s he said are Determination, Dedication and Discipline. Other prominent speaker who was invited for the day was Dr Ajay Thakur, Incharge, Tissue Culture, FRI, Dehradun. To judge the event Dr Sanjay Sachan Scientist, KVK, Dhakrani and Mr. Hariraj Singh Consultant, Water Shed Development were invited.
The session began with lamp lighting, Ganesh Vandana and felicitation of the Chief Guest and the Judges. On the occasion Dr Rakesh Ranjan, the Vice Chancellor of Himgiri Zee University applauded the effort of the Department in conducting the National Seminar while he also welcomed scholars and guests from other Universities. He said, “Such seminars go a long way in creating a knowledge society and impart new ideas to the coming generations for future development.” He added that in the ensuing semester new course in the field of agriculture and forestry will commence in the University. The courses that students can look up to are Bachelors in Fishery Sciences and Masters in Forestry.
In the seminar three programmes were held that included paper presentation, model exhibition and poster presentation. In poster presentation the first prize was bagged by Mr. Anoop Badoni of Quantum University and Ms. S. Lavanya of Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
Dr. Gideon of Himgiri Zee University received first prize in Paper Presentation in Faculty category while Mr. Pradeep Ram from GB Pant Agriculture University won first prize in student category.
Students and faculties worked hard to make the event a success. To grace the occasion other prominent members of the University including the Registrar Dr. Suresh Dhyani, Senior Administrative Officer Mr. Vishnu Mathur along with the faculty members were present. The event was coordinated by the efforts of Dr. Sharad Pandey,
The event was made successful by Dr. Devideen Yadav, Dr. Gideon, Dr. Mamta Khankriyal, Dr. Kanica Chauhan, Rekha Rawat, Satyen Chhetri, Alok Mishra, Kamal Negi, Shubham Mishra, Sanjeev Mishra, Mr. Vivek, Mr. Rishipal and all the volunteers.
