Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today urged BJP workers in the state to launch an extensive social media campaign for apprising the common people about the achievements of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

Inaugurating an IT and social media workshop organized at the party’s state headquarters here, Sushil called upon BJP workers to use Facebook and Twitter to aware people of the central government’s achievements.

He also asked the party workers to hold camps at colleges and coaching institutes next month and encouraged youths to install the Namo app on their mobile phones.

“Besides, efforts should be made to form at least one thousand WhatsApp groups in every district which would serve as a platform for exchanging information relating to the good work done by the Modi government,” he said.

Lauding the Prime Minister’s “Digital India” programme, the Bihar Deputy CM claimed “today the country has 121 crore mobile phone connections to which 120 crore Aadhaar numbers and 31 crore Jan Dhan accounts are linked”.

“Payments under 437 central schemes are being made through DBT which has curbed corruption and brought about transparency. Digital transactions have led to cancellation of 2.75 crore duplicate ration cards and 3.85 crore LPG connections. Curbs on such irregularities have resulted in savings of Rs 83,000 crore,” he claimed.

He also said out of one crore new income tax payers last year, 98 per cent had filed their returns online.

National convenor of the BJP’s social media and IT cell Amit Malviya said “Social media has helped common people in having direct links with the BJP and this is why we have been able to emerge as the largest political party in the world”. PTI
