Ivanka to participate in panel session with Nirmala Sitharaman, Chanda Kochhar

Ivanka Trump, advisor to President Donald Trump, leading the US contingent to the eighth edition of the three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES)-2017 will participate in panel discussions on women entrepreneurial leadership and innovations on workforce development and skills training.

However, US authorities have not disclosed whether the daughter of the US president, on her maiden visit to India, will visit places of interest such as Charminar and Golconda fort during her two-day stay here.

“She doesn’t have any other specific plans to talk about at this time. I think she is really excited to be in Hyderabad and looking forward to it. She epitomises someone who is not just a woman but a successful entrepreneur,” Kenneth I Juster, US Ambassador to India said.

Eminent panellists such as Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO ICICI Bank, Karen Quintos, CCO, Dell and Cherie Blair, of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, will also take part in these discussions along with Ivanka.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the summit with the theme ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’ at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will attend and speak at the summit.

Giving details of the three-day event Niti Ayog CEO Amitabh Kanth at a press conference said that more than 10 countries will be represented by an all-female delegation, including from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel.

“The GES will touch upon four sectors energy, health care, digital and media and entertainment in 53 sessions in which some of the finest speakers from the country abroad are taking part,” he said.

He made it clear that the GES is not aimed at garnering investment but to create an ecosystem for entrepreneurship and startups.

About 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors and supporters of entrepreneurship from more than 150 countries of the world are attending the summit. (DH News)
